Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay 2010

K so a bunch of us ran in the Ragnar Relay this past weekend and it was alot of fun and very tiring, I had to run 3 legs and I was runner #3 so I had 18.4 miles overall not all at once so that was good I ran a total of 10.5 the first day and 7.9 the second day but oh wow if anyone says that ragnar race is easy they are smoking something because it was alittle rough and I don't mean rough body wise I mean mentally rough, you are out running for 2 days straight non stop with no sleep I think I had 3 hours of sleep total in 2 days and when you have no sleep that so messes with your mind.
K so this is how it all started I got to bed thursday night around 1:30 am and had to be up at 4:00 am so I got all my stuff and headed to shane's to pick him and kelli up then we met martin & mindy in Odgen to drop off my vehicle and that was around 5:45ish then after dropping off the vehicle we headed up to Logan and that is where Shane started us off with our first leg, we had to get checked in and then he started at 8:15 then it eventually came my turn for my first leg and that was fine it all went well I ended up running 5.6 miles in an average of 9:31 minute miles so I was happy with that, then the day went on and it came time for my second leg around 8:40pm and that one was okay also I ran 5.1 miles in an average of 10:00 minute miles still okay with that, then I was done running til the next morning around 8:30 well we still had 3 runners in our van so we finished around 12:45ish am, then we had to drive to this school that was kind of out of the way so by the time we got there it was 2:00am then we had to try and find a place to sleep in the gym with 1,000 of other ppl so we all got ready for bed washed up and all and I think I finally feel asleep around 3:15ish and was up at 5:00am to drive back to the next exchange to start all over again so needless to say by that point I was so tired that I couldn't even function so I was ready to give up, i told my team if my jeep was there I would have went home and they would have had to run my last leg cuz I was done, I tried to get my cousin to run my last leg but my team wouldn't let me give it away they talked me into running it and so I did and I don't know where my boost of energy came from but I made it through my last leg and it was 7.9 miles of hell lots of hills I had to run up the back side of Jordanelle just take a drive up that way and you will see what I ran up but I ran it in 10:31 minute mile pace so i felt good about that and so glad I didn't give up I was just having a moment of a mental break down and once I got passed that and got my second or 5th wind I was fine. Like I say I think this race is alot more mental challenging then it is challenging on your body. Next year I will be alot more prepared for what I am getting myself into and I will do things a little bit different.
We also got to run through some gorgeous scenery!
Well I got home around 7:30 saturday night still with no sleep, so I got showered and got some food and was in bed and asleep by 9:45ish and slept til 9 that next morning oh I was so tired.
Anyways sorry for the novel that was more for my benefit so I will remember this experience and when it comes time to run it again next year maybe I will go back and read this and remember the no sleep and say hell no hehehe.
Here are some pics of our adventure:

Mickele I am so so proud of you for doing that last leg! We had so much fun and I hope you do it with us next year (unless you're preggo of course!). And you're absolutely right, it is very much more a mental challenge than physical! :)
